Polite road race

1 RULES OF THE GAME

The competition shall be held in accordance with the existing rules and regulations of the Singapore Athletic Association (SAA) and the general rules and regulations of the POL-ITE Games.

2 ENTRIES

Each institution may register 1 men’s team and 1 women’s team. Each team may register a maximum of 6 participants. Teams fielding less than 4 runners in any category will not obtain a team score for that event.

3 COMPETITION RULES

3.1 All participants shall also compete as individuals for the Men’s and Women’s categories.

3.2 The venue and distance to be covered for the Men’s and Women’s categories shall be decided by the covenor. Teams shall be informed of the venue and distance at least 4 weeks prior to the race.

3.3 All runners will be given number tags which they must clearly display at the front of their running vests.

3.4 There must be check-points along the route manned by marshals. Any runner taking short cuts without passing through the appropriate check-points or displaying poor sportsmanship in the race will be disqualified from the competition.

4 SCORING

4.1 The results of the best 4 runners of each team in the Men’s and Women’s categories will be considered in deciding the team’s overall position.

4.2 The points scored by a runner will be the same as his/her returning position in the category he/she is competing in. For example, a runner finishing the race in 1st place will score 1 point.

4.3 The team with the least total individual points from their fastest runners will be the winner for that category.

4.4 In the event of 2 or more teams having a tie in points, in position returned by the fastest runner in the respective category will be used to decide the winner.

5. Prizes

5.1 Medals/trophies will be awarded to the top 6 runners for each category.

5.2 Challenge trophies will be awarded to the top institution of each category (Men & Ladies)

A. RULES & REGULATIONS

1 RULES OF THE GAME

The Championships shall be held in accordance with the existing rules and regulations of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) and conducted mainly by Singapore Athletic Association (SAA) And IVP Track & Field Championship regulations.

2 ENTRIES

(i) Each institution may register a maximum of 2 competitors and two reserves for each individual events and 1 team for each relay.

(ii) Each competitor is allowed to register for not more than three individual events (including registration as reserves) and any number of relays.

(iii) Members of a relay team shall come from any of the registered competitors only.

(iv) Substitution can be made from registered reserves during the final.

(v) Should there be more than 8 entries for events run in lanes, heats shall be conducted except 400m Hurdles. For events that require 2 heats, the first 2 placing of each heat and the 4 fastest losers shall qualify for the finals. For events that require 3 heats, the first 2 placing of each heat and the fastest 2 losers shall qualify for the finals.







4 SCORING


5 TIES

If 2 or more teams tie on points in the overall score, the Championships shall be awarded to the team which wins more first placings, second placings and so on.

6 DRAW FOR LANES/ORDER OF TRIALS

a) The draw for lanes/order of trials for all events shall be held before the programme is printed.

b) The lanes for finals will be drawn based on timing in the order as follows:
- the best 4 competitors for lanes 4, 5, 3 and 6.
- the slower 4 competitors for lanes 2, 7, 1 and 8.

7 FIELD EVENTS

Competitors shall take their trials in the order indicated in the program unless the Referee decides to alter that order. All competitors shall be given 3 trials and the best 8 competitors another 3 attempts (except High Jump and Pole Vault).

8 EQUIPMENT/SPECIFICATIONS

The heights for Hurdles and the weights of implements for all throwing events shall be those used by Men and Women. Competitors shall not be allowed to use their own implements, except vaulting poles.

9 NUMBER BIBS

Number bibs shall be provided by the Convenor and all athletes should display them prominently on the front and back of their running vests.


10 PRIZES

At the end of the Championship, the following Titles/Trophies shall be declared/given out:
§ Women’s Challenge Trophy
§ Men’s Challenge Trophy
§ Overall Challenge Trophy

12 PROTEST OR APPEAL AGAINST RESULTS

Verbal appeal must be followed by written appeal within 1 hour.

The referee’s decision is final and no individual evidence will be entertained.
